What is CHRZ?
CHRZ is a retrogame that fully lives on the Cardano blockchain without the need of resorting to external hosting services (e.g., IPFS, arweave). Just 16kb of metadata: an impossible bottle, crafted with love and passion for coding, that includes animations, synthesized sound effects, touch and keyboard controls, and -last but not least- a lot of funny Unicode characters.
CHRZ anatomy
One HERO (you!) and four enemies. Each enemy has got his own personality.
- SHADOWMAN aggressively chases HERO everywhere.
- AMBUSHMAN tries to get ahead of HERO to ambush him.
- THE PROFESSOR uses complex formulas to try to trap HERO. Nonetheless his strategy is often ineffective.
- HAPPY STONER is not very hostile: when close enough to HERO it postpones his lethal goal. This guy is just pursuing happiness.
TWO ENEMY MODES
- PATROL mode (duration: 8s): the enemies follow predefined paths.
- CHASE mode (duration: 15s): the enemies behave according to their personality.
BONUS SYSTEM
The first bonus item appears after 8s... easy. The remaining items appear every 23s (approximately). Be quick, they disappear after 4s.

How to beat the game
CHRZ is an old-style videogame, which may be rather hard to play. Here is a list of useful suggestions that might help improve your game experience.
- Keyboard controls are faster than touch controls. Thus, playing on a computer is easier than playing on a mobile device.
- Select the hero direction in advance. E.g., If you are in the middle of a long corridor, you can already choose your move (up/down/right/left). Don't wait to be in an intersection point to turn. This greatly improves your reaction time.
- Go full screen for a better experience.
- During patrol mode conquer zones that are not covered by your enemies.
- Know you enemies and how they behave during chase mode. This is key to finish the game!
- Prepare to die multiple times and embrace the fiasco. A little bit of frustration should be part of the experience of every game. Enjoy your failure and live happy! :)
Game variants and rarity
There exists 1013 CHRZ tokens: 1000 tokens have been procedurally generated using a subset of the unicode emojis. The remaining 13 tokens are special 1/1 tokens where graphical elements (such as enemies, hero, power-ups) have been manually selected according to a specific game theme. Tokens are classified in 13 game variants. Variants have different rarity levels as shown below.
